DALLAS, July 2, 2019 – Avix Aero announces the amendment of STC ST03592NY for the Strut Data Collection System (SDCS), adding wireless capabilities. Avix’s initial STC, applicable to the Boeing 737NG family of aircraft, certified the initial / proof of concept version of the SDCS. Since that time, Avix has installed the SDCS on a commercial aircraft and collected data on 1,800 flights. With its wireless communication capabilities, the SDCS can now provide operators real-time validation of their primary load buildup methods. The DACU also receives key signals from the aircraft, similar to the Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS) on cabin door closure, parking brake state, and aircraft attitude, allowing the SDCS to mark key portions of the aircraft departure cycle and provide highly accurate weight and balance measurements.
“The addition of real time wireless communication capabilities while the aircraft is on the ground, opens up new applications for the SDCS for our customers, including off-aircraft data analytics that provides real-time validation of weight and balance calculations,” said Bill Shields, Avix’s Chief Engineer. “This represents a step-change in the benefits of the SDCS for our customers. The patented calculations create valuable data that can be used to not only validate an operator’s current processes, but to build historical data to help substantiate proposed changes or expansions to their current processes. The impacts could be felt in areas including load planning to enhance fuel efficiencies, seasonal and route evaluations, regulatory compliance and oversight, as well as long term process improvement goals.”
Prior to this update, batched data was retrieved periodically from the on-board SDCS Data Acquisition Unit and processed after the fact. Applications enabled by the wireless communication capabilities include pre-departure weight and balance validation, flight-by-flight active health monitoring of the landing gear, and landing force validation in the event of PIREP hard landing reports.

ABOUT AVIX AERO
Avix Aero, LLC (“Avix”) is an aerospace company producing game-changing commercial aircraft technology and solutions. Avix brings a unique combination of technical innovation, engineering and certification expertise and commercial airline experience that creates pragmatic solutions that improve safety and airline operational efficiency. The company’s inaugural product, the Strut Data Collection System (SDCS), is a leading-edge onboard aircraft weight and balance measurement system that collects landing gear strut pressures from each gear position. Through its Aero Source Data service, this data is communicated to a secure off-site data center where proprietary Avix algorithms conduct pre-departure validation of primary load buildup methods, touchdown analysis, and data analytics across flight segments. Avix is based in Dallas, Texas. Reference Avix Aero at www.avixaero.com.
