DALLAS, October 24, 2017 – Avix Aero, the commercial aircraft technology company has formed a joint venture with aviation solutions provider Satcom Direct (SD). The newly named Aero Source Data will combine the power of Avix Aero data monitoring, capture, and analysis solutions for commercial aircraft with the SD global network and infrastructure to securely transmit data to customers worldwide.<\p>
Avix Aero’s aircraft monitoring technology uses its proprietary Strut Data Collection System, SDCS, to collect data related to commercial aircraft landing gear systems. Propriety Avix algorithms perform calculations to deliver real-time weight and balance validation feedback to aircraft operators. Through the Aero Source Data joint venture, aircraft using Avix SDCS wirelessly transmit data via the secure SD network. The first unnamed customer for Aero Source Data will receive data from Boeing 737NG aircraft.
The detailed information will give flight managers/dispatchers/airlines improved visibility about aircraft weight and balance to facilitate quicker dispatch of flights and improve the efficiency of flight deck communications. Aero Source Data anticipates that use of this data will reduce fuel burn and augment aircraft longevity all of which will contribute to lowering operating costs for airlines.
“Avix Aero is committed to creating solutions that help airlines optimize their assets by monitoring real time activity. Our partnership with Satcom Direct brings high-availability, resilience and global reach to Avix’ products by communicating data that has been intelligently analyzed,” said Avix’s Andrew Thomas. “Through the SD 24/7 global infrastructure, Avix customers can be assured that data collection, processing, and analysis are available immediately and continuously.”
“SD is committed to providing innovative solutions that enhance and improve aviation operations which is why we are pleased to partner with Avix Aero. We recognize Avix as a highly-inventive, solution-oriented company solving real problems for aircraft operators. Together as Aero Source Data we will bring value to the commercial aviation sector at a time when operational efficiency and fuel burn are front of mind for senior aviation executives,” said Satcom Direct Vice President of Strategy and Programs John Kummer.
