FORT WORTH, January 18, 2021 – Avix Aero and GDC Technics announced that they have obtained a FAA Supplemental Type Certificate (“STC”) on the Boeing 777-200, 777-300 and 777-300ER for Avix’s Strut Data Collection System (“SDCS”), commonly known as “Weight on Wheels” (WoW). In conjunction with the STC issuance, Avix announces that GDC Technics is the fulfillment partner for Boeing 777 WoW kits and the distribution partner for the WoW solution to the Boeing 777 VVIP market.
Avix’s “Weight on Wheels” solution accurately captures and operationalizes strut pressure data in real-time. The system improves safety and load compliance while minimizing the impact of human error during pre-departure activities. Better and more consistent load compliance allows operators to optimize the aircraft’s center of gravity to improve safety and increase fuel efficiency. Additionally, streamlined loading practices reduce turn times, while predictive maintenance uses of the solution lead to improvements in reliability, on-time performance, and customer satisfaction. Other benefits include hard landing analysis and the potential for operational curtailment relief.
Jim Bohlman, President of Avix Aero, commented, “We are thrilled to offer our ‘Weight on Wheels’ solution to Boeing 777 operators. GDC Technics has been an excellent partner – first with their support in amending a prior STC, then installation of our ‘Weight on Wheels’ solution with our initial customer. As they became more familiar with our solution, it was clear that they should be our partner in developing the STC on additional platforms. We are also pleased to announce our partnership with GDC for kit fulfillment and the distribution of our Boeing 777 WoW solution to the VVIP market.”
“GDC Technics is excited about obtaining the STC on the Boeing 777 aircraft for the Avix ‘Weight on Wheels’ solution. This solution revolutionizes the way the industry thinks about measuring aircraft weight and balance. We are confident that, in addition to commercial passenger and cargo carriers, Avix’s WoW solution will be very attractive to our VVIP customers,” said Brad Foreman, CEO of GDC Technics.
The “Weight on Wheels” solution is currently certified on Boeing 777-200, 777-300 and 777-300ER aircraft and the Boeing 737NG family of aircraft. The solution is in operation with a Part 121 commercial operator and can be installed at most MROs.
